Wallace ends up taking part in the “Theatre Of Life,” which promises to treat the participant as a character in a crime drama. Trouble begins when Wallace is mistaken for a real spy and shoots a man. Now he’s tangled up in a plot to kill Russian dignitaries on the eve of the signing of an important peace agreement. For him, it’s all an act. But to the men who want a second Cold War, Wallace is public enemy number one.

Movie Highlight – Inglorious Basterds  (August 21, 2009)

  • Written and Directed by Quentin Tarantino
  • Starring Brad Pitt, Mike Myers, BJ Novak, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, Diane Kruger, Julie Dreyfus, Samuel L. Jackson
  • In Nazi-occupied France during WW II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as the “The Basterds” are chose specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis.  The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers.

Retro Review!Anatomy of a Murder

  • Released July 1, 1959
  • Directed by Otto Preminger
  • Written by Wendell Mayes (The Spirit of St. Lous, Death Wish – yes, the ones with Charles Bronson)
  • Starring James Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara, Arthur O’Connell, George C. Scott, Murray Hamilton, Kathryn Grant, Eve Arden
  • Synopsis: Paul Biegler is a small town lawyer who until recently had been the local prosecutor and given a lack of clients, he spends a lot of time fishing.  When a murder takes place in a trailer park on the outskirts of town, he is asked to defend Lt. Frederick Manion who admits to having killed Barney Quill, a local bar owner who allegedly raped his wife.  He now claims temporary insanity.  The case is both prominent, with the State’s Deputy Attorney General personally prosecuting the case and lurid, given the rape and the sexual anture of much of the testimony.  Biegler and his friend Parnell McCarthy, now a bit the worse for wear and given to drink, must find a way to convince the jury when they have little or no evidence to support their case.
